The Grateful Families Program offers patients and their families an opportunity to express thanks for the exemplary and compassionate care received at the Brant Community Healthcare System.
Stories from grateful patients and their families are a wonderful way to showcase the everyday, life-saving work being done by the dedicated people at the BCHS. These people know first-hand that when a health crisis or emergency affects you or a loved one, the caregivers at the BCHS are here to provide exceptional, professional, and compassionate care!
Drew Stevenson’s healthcare journey began unexpectedly during an annual family camping trip in the summer of 2021. After experiencing abdominal pain, Drew visited the Willett in Paris, where initial testing led to further diagnostics at Brantford General Hospital, a large blockage was discovered. Within hours, Drew was in surgery. The diagnosis: colon cancer.
Throughout his journey, Drew faced every setback with optimism and strength — earning his family’s nickname: Our Rockstar.
Don was experiencing difficulty breathing and trouble maintaining his oxygen levels.
Thanks to diagnostic imaging, it was revealed that he had pneumonia and fluid around his lungs, along with his existing heart condition. This technology provided the medical staff with the information needed to guide the right treatment and ensure Don received the best possible care.
Late in the evening in April 2024 Peter fell at home, hitting his head and experiencing his first seizure. Peter’s wife Dora… called for an ambulance and Peter was taken to the Emergency Department at Brantford General.
“We sat in the waiting room for a very short time. Nursing care in the ED was wonderful,” says Dora. “We were called in right away, and it took the tension away from Peter and me.”
During our 2023 Hope for Healthcare holiday season campaign, grateful patient Catherine Cooper asked that you make the BCHS Foundation your charity of choice and help support the purchase of critically needed medical equipment.
We’re proud to continue to share Catherine’s inspiring story and message about the gift of giving back.
On November 21, 2023, TinaMae called an ambulance for her husband Jon who was experiencing disorientation and severe flu-like symptoms. He was taken to the Emergency Department (ED) at the Brantford General Hospital.
They graciously shared their story of Jon’s lifesaving medical journey, recovery and exceptional care received at the BCHS.
The Grateful Families program is a wonderful way for you to voice your appreciation to our community about how well you or your loved one was cared for, while showcasing the life-changing work that is being done by people everyday at the Brantford General Hospital and The Willett, Paris. We appreciate the grateful patients that choose to share their story, and help spread the word on the compassionate healthcare being provided every day in our community.
