Donor Dollars Support Equipment Purchases

The BCHS Foundation is happy to announce these recent equipment purchases to benefit patient care!

Shower Bed for Complex Care. Water-resistant, mobile, and safe, it features safety side supports, soft removable mattress and head pillow, electrical height adjustment, and brakes on all four casters.

A shower bed allows patients who are immobile to be safely and comfortably transported to bathe. This increases comfort, ensures skin health, and prevents complications associated with immobility, such as bedsores and infections.

Continuous Passive Motion Limb Exerciser for Surgical. Used to help improve joint mobility and reduce pain and inflammation after surgery, the CPM Exerciser works by gently and continuously moving the affected limb through a controlled range of motion, stimulating blood flow, preventing scar tissue formation, and maintaining joint flexibility.

The CPM Exerciser benefits patients by reducing post-op pain and minimizes the chance of inflammation while helping to increase range of motion. It can also lead to a reduction in medication, earlier discharge from hospital, and less outpatient care.

There is no ongoing commitment of funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to acquire the capital equipment and upgrade the technology needed each and every day at the BCHS. The BCHS Foundation is responsible to bridge this funding gap locally through donor dollars. Your meaningful support of the BCHS Foundation helps us purchase patient equipment, renovate patient care areas, and puts the necessary tools in the hands of healthcare workers and caregivers in your neigbourhood!
