Read4BCHS Pop-Up Event

Diane Henrique is a Canadian children’s book author and passionate grade one teacher on a mission to make learning to read joyful and engaging. With a deep love for children’s literacy and a firm belief in the power of the Science of Reading, Diane creates fun, interactive stories and decodable readers that empower young learners to become confident readers.

Diane’s debut book, “Grade One Is No Fun”, captures the big feelings of early school days, while her decodable series blends research-backed strategies with playful storytelling. And the follow-up, “Bring Back the Blurts!”, was released January 24, 2026!

Susanne Dobbin worked for over twenty years in child protection before taking early retirement and has now settled in nicely as an award-winning author. Writing is Susanne’s chief self-indulgence, next to reading and chocolate. In 2024 she won the New Canadian Manuscript Contest for her novel, “Raising the Dead.”

Susanne will have copies of “Raising the Dead” available for sale for $20 at the Read4BCHS pop-up, and she is generously donating the net  proceeds of every sale to Pediatric care at the BCHS!
