What is Read4BCHS?

Read4BCHS is a community-wide event that engages individuals of all ages and reading levels and reminds us that reading takes us to all sorts of places and connects us to new communities and friends!

Our annual Read4BCHS event inspires an appreciation of reading, all while raising much needed funds to support the youngest patients at the Brant Community Healthcare System.

It’s as easy as remembering the R’s – Read, Raise, Rewards!

There are great prizes to be won for the top fundraisers. And participants can record their reading during the event for chances to unlock rewards!

Who’s that bookworm?

The Read4BCHS bookworm’s name is Munsch!

In honour of the 5th anniversary of Read4BCHS we wanted to give our bookworm a name. Our 2023 event Top Group Fundraiser, Team MCA (Montessori Children’s Academy Paris), was asked to pick a name and they chose Munsch in honour of great American-Canadian children’s author Robert Munsch, and because bookworms love to “munch” on books!

Who can participate?

EVERYONE! School classes, community groups, sports teams, families and individuals are all invited to READ & RAISE. We welcome readers of all ages and reading levels.

How much do I have to read?

There is no minimum or maximum of books or minutes you have to read – you set your own goal and read at your own pace. Read anything that interests you – books, e-books, magazines, comics, storybooks, whatever you like!

How do I register?

What are we fundraising for?

All funds raised support pediatric care at the Brant Community Healthcare System. When you READ & RAISE you are helping the youngest patients at the Brantford General Hospital during their time of greatest need. And all charitable donations made are tax deductible.

How do I get donations for my reading?

Share your Read4BCHS donation link with your social circle – family, friends, co-workers – and ask them to support you. Let them know you are reading to raise awareness and funds for pediatric care at the BCHS!
